Day Five on the Island

Today is the day that I got sick. I am slightly convinced that my roommate, John Wengierski, passed his illness to me. Nothing horrific, just an extremely sore throat and headache. However, it did cause me to sit out the day. I caught up on some much needed sleep and then hung out with Dr. Gruninger the entire day....

Day Four on the Island

Another tiring wake up today, but excitement trumped the sleepiness with the Marine 2 visiting Necker Island. Sir Richard Branson, the founder of Virgin Group which is comprised of 400 companies, owns Necker Island. The Island contains various lemurs from Madagascar, as well as flamingos, tortoises, and Scarlet Ibis. It is $60,000 a night to rent the island, but...

Day Three on the Island

Today was another fun filled adventure packed with a two tank dive and a project night snorkel. The two tank dive was at the RMS Rhone. The Rhone was a UK Royal Mail Ship owned by the Royal Mail Steam Packet Company. The boat wrecked off the coast of Salt Island in the British Virgin Islands in October 1867...

Day Two on the Island..

Today I woke up tired, sunburnt, and hungry. A cold shower soothed my sunburn, a box of cereal quenched my appetite, and I was permanently tired throughout the day. It was a short ride to the marina where the boats were ready to set out. Sea Dragon, the boat I am on, went to Ginger Steps. Ginger Steps are...

Next, we boarded the boats for a short safety briefing, locating the safety equipment sits in case of an emergency. For the first dive we traveled to George Dog Island for the first checkout dive. The dive lasted about...

Day five on the island: We went back to the 7am wake up for this morning. Everyone was especially tired today because of how much sun we got yesterday during the turtle tagging. Most cabins were asleep and lights out at 10:30. Anyway, we met glen at 8 so that he could drive us to breakfast. For breakfast, we went...

Day four on the island: This morning changed a little bit; we were given an extra 45 minutes to sleep in. It was a tremendous surprise to hear the night before. For breakfast we met the Dive BVI staff at Mr. Kirby, Doc, and Mrs. Boyle's cabin for breakfast. Later we left for for the boats, where we met...

Day three on the island: The mornings are getting down to a science. 7am wake up, wake up the rest of the cabin, say good morning to Mr. Kirby who's doing his wake up rounds, get dressed, and go to breakfast. We took a rather long boat ride, around twenty-five to thirty minutes away. We stopped in between Salt...
