Day 4

Today I ate lunch at the Lime house where I was luckily able to snag some Froot Loops and a strawberry yogurt so breakfast was made better. After liberally applying sunscreen I was ready to set out for the day.
After splitting up with the Sea Monkey crew we went to snorkel, collect, observe and identify invertebrates near mountain point. Once we got there we got jars and set out collecting. I caught two sea slugs and saw an octopus but sadly it was too big to fit in the jar so we let it be. Upon returning to the beach we saw our group had caught several large and small hermit crabs, a tiny octopus hiding in a shell, sea pearls and peppermint cleaner shrimp. Despite being scraped badly by coral it was still an awesome experience!
Next after returning to yacht harbor for a quick sandwich lunch we were on the boat to Little Dick’s bay to attempt to tag some sea turtles. Tyler and I teamed up and quickly spotted a huge green sea turtle and after attempting to coral said turtle he was swimming right at me. I was attempting to make myself appear big to ma,e it turn around to Tyler but sadly it juked me out and I missed it. Then we were towed behind the boat to see if we could spot turtles. Right at the end we found one and or 15 minutes by swimming but sadly it got away.
Later we watched the documentary entitled Chasing Coral. To make a long story short it was very depressing but really put the issue of coral bleaching into perspective and really made me realize the significance of what I was doing here.
I am looking forward to snorkeling at the mangroves tomorrow and working on restoring the coral nurseries
