Blog Day 4

Being very tired last night, I put my water bottle in the freezer instead of the fridge. When I woke up, I was reminded of this by a quick panic, thinking I lost the bottle before looking in the freezer. The bottle was frozen, but thankfully it did not crack because I did not fill it up all the way. Breakfast consisted of more dry Apple Jacks. After breakfast I went down to the wifi room and was lectured by a government worker about turtles. After the talk, we went down to the boat and went to Little Dick’s Bay. I was looking for about 10 minutes before I first saw a turtle. When I saw it, I started swimming as fast as I could, and I lost my other group member. Then I lost the turtle. This repeated for all 8 turtles I saw. Then we went back to the boat to get ropes. The ropes were used to pull us in the water, while snorkeling. We tried to catch turtles but they were too fast and too deep. Then we went back in a taxi, and we drove to a beach to snorkel and look for invertebrates. I did not find anything except for a rusty Orange Fanta can. Dawson found an octopus inside of a hermit crab shell. Once we were done there, we went home, showered and went to the wifi room. As I was walking down, I spotted a lone hermit crab. As I picked him up, he started to crawl on me. I thought he would pinch me, so I dropped him from eye-level. I thought he died because he slammed onto the cement. I picked him up anyways and brought him on my iPad to the wifi room. When I out him on the table, he didn’t move for at least 10 minutes. After a while, he started moving, and we had to make a makeshift enclosure to prevent him from running off the edge of the table. His name will be determined by a tally tonight between Doug and Kermit.

P.S. I realized no one wanted to vote for his name, so I have decided that he will be named Doug Kermit.
