Day 4

My day started off with the usual breakfast served by lime cabin today. After breakfast we had a meeting for our turtle tagging we were about to go on. During the meeting, we were taught how to safely catch a turtle and tag them without harming the turtle. After the meeting we split into our two boat groups and went off to different places. Instead of going on two tank dives, my group and I went to Little Dix Bay, which is right around the corner of where we are staying. We got to Little Dix Bay and snorkeled to look for turtles to tag. We saw about five turtles while snorkeling and I also saw two stingrays and an eel. We continued to try to catch and tag turtles but we were unsuccessful as they constantly out swam us. After snorkeling at Little Dix Bay we got back on the boat and went further away from the shore so that we could hold on to a rope behind the boat and look for turtles to tag. We were again unsuccessful and only saw one turtle. After looking for turtles we went back to Yacht harbor and ate lunch. After lunch the groups switched places. My group and I went to a beach that was about a fifteen car ride down the coast line. We looked for invertebrates to catch and put in a jar to observe and then of course released them after. The other group found an octopus in a shell that we got to observe. It was actually very smart as it would pull in shells and such things and throw them back out if he was uninterested. After we were done with all of our activities we went back to our rooms, showered up and worked on our research project. Today was a more relaxing and fun day as we got to interact with the sea animals.
