Blog Post Day 3

Today was another long day of scuba diving, snorkeling, and games on the beach. To begin the day we had a breakfast of cereal and fig newtons. After breakfast we headed down to the dock once again to load up the boats and complete our project dives. Our first dive was at “The Chimney” which was discovered by Jacques Cousteau when he was exploring the BVIs. In fact, this dive site was one of Jacques Cousteau’s favorite places to explore due to the interesting rock formations. During this dive my group visited a goby cleaning station where we saw a couple parrotfish and a baby trunkfish. After our first dive, we went to our next dive which was at Bronco Billy. Bronco Billy was named after the shape of the island it is located right by, which is somewhat shaped like a horse. This was the last of our project dives and we monitored a Shrimp cleaning station where we actually saw a ton of fish. We saw many parrotfish, a large school of Tang, and many long-spine squirrelfish. After we monitored the cleaning station for a while, we just had a fun dive and we saw an octopus. After our two tank dive in the morning we had lunch and then worked on our group projects for an hour. Then we headed down to the beach where we had many competitions where the houses were racing against each other. Even though my house made it into a tie for the lead at the end, after a wheelbarrow tie breaker race we ended up in second. After that hard fought battle, we had dinner and then went on the night snorkel. On the night snorkel we saw many fish that would not usually be out during day such as octopi and baby squids. We also spotted many flounder that were hiding in the sand. However, I got stung by a jellyfish so that did not feel good. Even though my team lost the house competition and I got stung by a jellyfish, it still was a good day.
