Final day on the island…

Today started off with giant donuts that Doc brought to our cabin for breakfast. We then got on the taxi and made our way to our service site where we would be cleaning the beach of all plastics and debris. The beach was located right in front of the water desalination plant, so they wanted the beach and water to be clean of pollutants. We ended up filling two truck loads of trash in only 2 hours. After we finished our service, we washed our hands and went shopping in the Dive BVI store. Once we made our purchases, we went out to the restaurant for lunch where I ate a cheeseburger with an iced tea and watched the boats come in and out of the marina. We left the restaurant to go back to the cabins to prepare our presentations. We finished our preparations and headed down to the wifi room where we would be presenting our project to the Dive BVI staff. My group of Bryce Ozier, Clay Walters and myself had the opportunity to go first which was amazing since we just wanted to get this over and done with as fast as possible in order to not overthink what we might say. We finished our presentations with the sound of applause and the approval of everyone in the room, even Doc Gruninger! We walked out of the room with smiles and everyone who had to go next asking us questions of “how was it” or “should I be worried”, but we just let them find it out by themselves. We paid our commissary bills and went back to the room to nap and get ready to go to the beach for a couple minutes. When we got to the beach, we went straight to playing whiffle ball, but we got tired of that pretty quickly and played ultimate frisbee instead. We played frisbee until Mr. Von told us it was time to go back to the cabins to get showered and ready for dinner. At dinner, we shared many heartfelt words and an amazing meal at the top of the baths. After dinner was over, we thanked the dive staff and watched a short video about our trip here. As we were leaving the staff, we chanted and high fives each and everyone of their names because they were so amazing to be around, and taught us so much. Thank You BVI staff, I will cherish these memories forever!
