Day 6

Today, we get to sleep in and wake up around 9:00 which was awesome. We all met for breakfast at the teacher,s cabin where there was an assortment of breakfast foods including huge donuts, fresh fruit, yogurt, and granola bars. Once we finished eating our pleasant breakfast, we went down to the entrance of the resort to wait for Glen, our taxi driver that would be taking us to beach cleanup service project.

We arrived at the beach that we were going to clean. The beach was located right next to a huge water plant. Casey and Mr. Kirby gave us instructions about cleaning up the beach; we all grabbed some rubber gloves and a trash bag and began to clean it up. On the beach, there were many weird pieces of trash that either came from other islands, cruise ships, and more. For example, I found some shotgun shells, fishing nets, shampoo bottles, flip flops, and a lot more random pieces of trash. Ryan Brooks and I helped lick up all of the really heavy stuff like boat motors, wood planks, tires, and more. After cleaning for a good hour and a half, we got picked up by Glen and headed back to our resort, the Guavaberry.

When we got back, we had a solid four hours to do whatever we wanted; it was the last free time we had on our trip. A couple of buddies and I headed down to the beautiful beach and decided to take a dip. When we got in the water, we saw all of this little water needles that started to poke us and stoke onto our clothes which started irritating our skin so we immediately got out. Even though we didn’t want to swim anymore, we stayed on the beach for about another half hour and chilled under the shade and in the sand.

When we got back to the resort, it was dinner time. So we all got showered and dressed for our final meal on the island. We headed down to the Mermaid Bar; Casey rented the whole upper deck for our dinner which was amazing because we were right on the water. After we finished our delicious meal, we stayed a little longer to watch a video that the Dive BVI staff out together for us; the video was awesome and brought back so many memories from the trip. When we finished the video, it was time to head back to our cabins and pack since we were about to leave the next morning. After I packed, I headed to bed around 10:30 since I knew we had to wake up around 4:00 am. Thank you for reading!
