Day 7 in the BVI

0

This morning was a little better than the last few mornings besides me not being able to sleep throughout the night. Our cabin was able to sleep in a little later to 8:30. So I woke up, grabbed my water bottle, hat, and sunscreen and headed to the teacher’s cabin once again for breakfast. After we ate, we headed down to the the taxi where Glen, our cab driver, was waiting for us. Once everyone was in the taxi, he drove us to a very polluted beach called Handsome Bay. We spent almost 2 hour picking up all kinds of trash and pollution along the shore. The most interesting piece of trash I found was a diabetic shot with insulin in it, a bag full of dead fish that made me throw up a little, or a gasoline can half full. After we cleaned up the beach, it looked so much better than when we arrived. We then headed back to the marina for lunch and then went back to our cabins for a 4 hour rest period. I used this time to play a bunch of cards, pack most of my bags, and to take a 2 and a half our nap. After I woke up, we were able to spend our last day on the beach, relax in the wifi room, or to relax in our cabins. I decided to chill in the wifi room with air conditioning until we left for a restaurant called The Mermaid for dinner around 6. Dinner was amazing and I ate a bunch of ribs and dessert. After I finished eating, I decided to look over the edge of the railing into the ocean and I witnessed one of the most beautiful sunsets I’ve ever seen in my life. I then decided to look down into the water and there were about 10-20 tarpon. These fish were massive ranging from 3 feet long to about 6 feet long. Finally to end the night, Casey put together a video on her computer to sum up the week with all kinds of videos and pictures and it was really amazing. I was able to get to bed after dinner around midnight after packing all of my bags. Dive BVI really made my trip special and very memorable so I thank them for everything. The next morning we were woken up at 4 am and grabbed our bags and took a boat ride at 5 am to Tortola. Our flight was at 7:30 and we arrived in San Juan, Puerto Rico around 8:15 am. We then had a couple hour layover till 11:30 am waiting for our Dallas flight to take off. I spent this time mainly playing cards with my classmates. I have become quite the hearts player so beware. Once boarded, I immediately fell asleep and slept the whole 4 and a half hour flight and it was amazing. We arrived in Dallas around 4 and I was very happy to be picked up by my Dad in the 1960 Impala. To sum up my trip, I have been very lucky and am extremely grateful that I was chosen to take part in such an amazing program. Dive BVI is an amazing company and they truly made my trip so much fun and I cannot wait to come back to Virgin Gorda and dive with them. They have expanded my knowledge with all kinds of marine life and have made me want to explore diving further. Thank you to Jesuit for allowing this program and thank you so much Dive BVI for making my trip a dream come true. Hope to see you next year!
