Day 7

Today was the day we really gave back. We cleaned up the coast that takes on wind and waves from the Atlantic. From afar it looked like any other rocky coast but getting up close completely changed the look of it. The whole beach was scattered with bottles and nets and we had an hour and fifteen minutes to do our best in cleaning it up. We found everything from a homemade flame thrower to rusty oil drums and tires. Everything we could get we picked up. From what we started with the beach was completely changed. There’s was still smaller pieces of netting that we were not able to get because it was starting to break down, but other than that we had made a huge difference. After cleanup we had lunch and went back to the houses for a few hours of free time before our last dinner. During free time we hit the beach and the wifi room. At the beach we discovered an organism that had a needle that could stick into you. I’m not sure but someone said they could go into the needle and eat part of what it was stuck into. In the wifi room we had some time to just hang out and I talked to dad about the Miami Marlins trade they made with Houston. After that it was off to dinner. Dinner was at Mermaids grill right on the ocean and it was by far the best meal we’ve had all trip. We had salad, BBQ ribs, corn on the cob, and other items then for dessert we had key lime pie. The dive BVI team also made a video of the whole week that put things into perspective of how amazing the trip really is. After goodbyes to a few dive leaders who will not be with us tomorrow at 5 am, we headed back to the houses to finally pack up. Goodbye BVI it was an amazing trip and I couldn’t of asked for anything more.
