Day 2: Identifying Fish and Frisbee

2

The day began a little rough. Exhausted from the long day yesterday, it took almost as much effort to wake up today as it is the day of a big test after an allnighter. After pulling myself out of bed, I went to wash my face and put in my contacts. Of course, one of them fell out of my eye and I had to open up a new pack. Then, we all met up in the wifi room and ate breakfast while going over the plan for the day. Then we headed down to The Baths, giant rocks formed long ago due to tectonic plates shifting and lava cooling. We walked around The Baths for a while and squeezed through all the tight passages between the rocks. Later, we went down to one of the most idyllic beaches I have ever seen. It was clear water with white sand. After an hour of fish identification lecture, Chris, Michael, Henry, and I went snorkeling around the beach. We saw a giant grouper and tons of fire coral. It was funny because Henry hovered right next to a lot of the fire coral and his face almost touched it without him knowing it was fire coral. Luckily he asked “what’s fire coral look like” before he bumped into it. We still had some time to kill so we got a couple frisbees and everyone not in class started a big game of frisbee. Later we went down to the marina, boarded the Sea Dragon, and went to Ginger Island for a fish identification scuba dive. We saw a lot of really cool fish, including trumpet fish, butterfly fish, and a horse eyed jack. Then we packed up our gear, went back to Guava Berry to take showers, and went to dinner. Dinner wasn’t my favorite today. It was wraps, pasta salad, and potato salad, but it wasn’t bad, and the sundae made it all good. After dinner, we played some more frisbee, went back to Guava Berry, and wrote our blogs.
