Last Day in the BVI – Round 2

1

Yesterday, we woke up and immediately went out on the water for our two tank dive. Our dive insect or Jeff carefully lowered all of our cinder blocks filled with cement. Then, Gavin and I carefully placed them in one of the designated spots, arranging them how we wanted them and proceeding to zip tie them together. Once they were secure, we headed up to the surface for snacks. We descended for our second dive with our Marine Biology 1 buddy, Suarez. We took him to our sites and he zip tied on the coral he had collected earlier. Once finished, we headed back for showers before mass. Mass was incredible once again this year. The view is always amazing. I read the responsorial psalm and the second reading. We then went back to the cabins and changed for our barbecue on the beach. We ate hamburgers and hotdogs and then went out for the night snorkel. On the night snorkel, we saw a tarpon, a lobster, jellyfish, a stingray, and several other nocturnal creatures. I slept well, as always, after our long day.

Today, we woke up and had breakfast in the Internet cafe. We went out to our dive site but the current was too strong. We moved to another dive site called Mountain Point. This dive was definitely my favorite of the trip. We saw a giant wall of coral where we looked for lion fish. We ended up finding and killing 4 total lion fish which was great! Along the way, we saw a lobster, an eel, 2 sea turtles, and a stingray. It was fantastic! We then came back to the docks and watched Jeff cut up the lion fish. After that, we had lunch at the bar. Then, we got changed and went down to the beach for free time. We played frisbee and football which was a lot of fun! Now, we’re getting ready for our final banquet at Mermaid’s. It should get pretty emotional. I have loved my stay here and the people I’ve bonded with along the way! Thank you Dive BVI for one of the best weeks of my life.
