Turner day 2 blog

2

When I woke up today I knew it was going to be a great day! I slept really well and was well rested for the day. We woke up at about 7:15 to get ready and were down at the street ready to get picked up by the taxi at about 8:00. We headed over to the olde yard for breakfast and class and like yesterday the food was really good. After eating we got to hear Laura, who is a marine biologist, talk about all the types of animals that we could see in the BVI. We learned how to identify different species of fish based on the characteristics and traits that go along with them. After her talk we hopped back on the taxi and went over to Savannah Bay for some snorkeling. While snorkeling we saw all sorts of cool animals and were able to identify them thanks to Laura! I liked the blue tang who swim around in colonies and in schools to feed on coral. After this we ate lunch on the beach and got to hang out and have some beach time for an hour. After lunch brian laura and Casey went out and brought back some sea urchins and worms. We learned about these in a group session and then released them back to sea. The fire worm looked really cool and if you get stung by it it feels like fire. From savannah bay we went to the marina to head out for the dive. We went to a site by great dog island called “the chimney”. Here we found tons of new things I had never seen before. There was a 3 foot caribbean lobster and a 2 foot Nassau grouper that looked like a zebra! We had a full hour long dive before it was back to shore time. We then had about another hour to shower up before quesadillas and nachos at mad dogs. As we wind down now i am going to play some poker with my friends and go to bed. I cannot wait for the wreck of Rhone tomorrow and the two tank dive.
