First dive!

3

The first ocean dive of the trip was a 45 minute long, 58 foot deep dive around reefs and shelves. Entering the water, we were initially at about 20 feet, and at that depth there were a few small fish. The deeper we descended, the larger and more diverse the organisms became. We saw three lobsters, some arrow crabs, French angel fish, and an endangered Nassau grouper. Among the highlights of the dive were seeing a 3 foot barracuda streaking through the water, and seeing our dive instructor spear an invasive lion-fish and proceed to feed it to a hungry spotted moray eel, which made short work of the fish. This dive w
as an excellent way to start off a great week!
