Island Day 2

0

Our second day on the British Virgin Islands began with an early wake-up call at Limetree by yours truly. The staff of BVI talked to us about coral conservation and factors that affect the growth and development of the reefs. They gave us a notepad to document and identify the different species of marine animals that we might find during our dives.

Later, we went diving at the same location as we did yesterday. However, unlike yesterday, we dove to about 58 feet. Many of us spotted squid, groupers, eels, and a variety of reef fish (I even got to see a barracuda!). While it only lasted for about 47 minutes, I felt as if time stood still. I was nervous about diving as far as we did but when we finally reached our destination, I hardly noticed it and any worries I had prior to the dive vanished. It was truly breathtaking and I hope that the pictures I took today come out clear.

We finished off the day with dinner at Mad Dog’s. After our fill on pizza and floats, me falling off a hammock, and a little bit of random dancing and singing of old pop music, we called it a day. We didn’t get to snorkel today since we had a hard time squeezing it into the schedule (now it’s one more thing to look forward to tomorrow!).
