2nd Day in the BVI

1

Well my first draft (which probably took me 30 minutes) just deleted itself, so I’m re-writing the entire thing.

Today started off just like yesterday…early. Most of us made it down to the rally point at 8:30, but one group in particular was late. They now have to wake everyone else up tomorrow, which means they have to wake up the earliest. My good friend Brody McClure is leading that group tomorrow…haha. After the morning shenanigans, we traveled to the hotel and had breakfast. Then we discussed coral reefs and the roles of algae, animals, and humans. Did you know that algae live in coral and produce food for the coral?… Didn’t think so. Then we got a little lunch and discussed fish identification. Andrew led us through the discussion, and we all went over the different species and types of fish. It was quite interesting learning about all the different purposes of the fish and their impacts on the reef. After our discussions we hit the water.

We set up our gear and headed toward Alice’s Backside (the dive site). We arrived at the site and got in the water. We headed down to a cruising level of 55 ft. This was the deepest I had ever gone before, but it was hands down the most fun I’ve ever had under water. I personally came face to face with a parrotfish around 1.5 feet in size. It was a spectacular experience. I also saw damselfish, angelfish, triggerfish, groupers, squids, a crab, tons of coral, a barracuda, and many other fish and invertebrates. But we eventually had to surface. I, of course wasn’t happy, but humans do need oxygen to survive…weird. Then we stripped down our gear and headed back to shore. After diving, we headed to MadDogs to have dinner. Now I’m finishing this blog at 10:00… I’m worn out. Goodbye readers
