Day Thirteen

0

Today we learned a lot about coral conservation and fish identification. We woke up and headed to the same hotel as yesterday to eat. We had eggs, muffins, and fruit and then began our class and discussions. The first lesson was over things like coral environmental concerns and also coral characteristics and reproduction. The next lesson talked about how to identify certain fish by what they look like and certain habits. Once we finished discussing the second dive, we ate lunch which consisted of fish and roast beef sandwiches and fries. Then, we left for the marina where we got on the boat and set up all our equipment. Before we got in the water, we talked about what we would do in our dive and also reviewed some things from the class. In the water, we went down to see some of the reefs and the fish that swim around in them. It was very cool because we were able to see some of the creatures we discussed earlier like damselfish and parrotfish. We also practiced some of our buoyancy skills such as one-finger pushes and also helicopters, which are used to not stir up sediments from the bottom. When we reached our boat, we all got out and took apart our equipment. This dive was very enjoyable as we went for about an hour and saw some unique organisms. After we dried off and were back to the marina, we waited for our “Speedy” taxi to take us back to the resort. We all changed out of our swimsuits and got ready for dinner at Mad Dog’s. Once we arrived, we found a lot of pizza and also amazing views. The rest of the night consisted of relaxing in the comforatable chairs, taking pictures, and singing to the music. Today was very fun, and I am looking forward to snorkeling at The Baths tomorrow.
