1st Day in BVI

Wow it’s only been half a day but what a day it has been. Today we met at 8:00am by the limestone room. When everyone had arrived we went down to the guavaberry offices and talked to Tina (hotel manager) about the rules and regulations of the complex. After we finished talking to Tina we then headed to a hotel where we ate breakfast. Breakfast ended and Casey began with our orientation.Casey broke down what we were going to do each day and gave us general information about the island. Specifically she focused on coral damages in the past and what caused them to die. She also talked about lion fish and the proper technique of how to catch them. When orientation was over, sean, nick and me jumped in the pool to freshen up after an intellectually filled session with Casey. We all dried off and then lunch was served. The most exciting part of the day was moments away; we jumped on the taxi and headed to the boats. When everyone was on the boat we were briefed about safety and important info. Finally, the time had come for us to get in the water and scuba dive! My dive buddy (Brody) and I were the first in the water and let me tell you if was a great feeling. While underwater we practiced our buoyancy skills and clearing out our masks. When Casey was satisfied with our skills we explored the reef and saw not one but two sting rays! We are all back in our rooms and are heading to the beach for a cookout. Adios!
