Final Day on the Island

1

The first dive today was at Sand Hole Reef. It was an average reef, like the others we had dove at however this experience was different. Today I got to swim with a wild baby sea turtle, side by side. It was an amazing opportunity that I will never forget. I also saw about a foot long trumpet fish and a large school of squirrel and French Grunts. There were also many Royal Gramma Basslets at the edges of the coral.

The second dive was a really fun, shallower dive called Ocean Point. I got to see a lot of colorful coral in the 45 minutes we were under water. The visibility today was amazing and we could see coral still from a very far distance. We got to see a lemon ray sitting still on some coral. I saw a large tarpon as well as many French Grunts. There was also a large school of black durgon that we got to see. The second dive was very interesting because of how long it lasted but also very sad because it was our last one of the trip.

We did not do much at all in the afternoon after lunch. I relaxed and laid on the beach right before dinner, then dressed up nice for the night. After dinner we had an amazing prayer service reflecting on the week and how we should change some of our routines and habits that might cause harm to the environment. It was an amazing week filled with new experiences and amazing memories that will last a lifetime.

Thank you to Doc, Ms. Mathews, Mr. Marr, and Dr. Kirby for making this experience possibly as well as fun and enjoyable for all of us.
