Grand Caymans Day 6:

Today’s dive took place at two ship wrecks, the first was at Kittiwake and the second was at Doc Paulson. Kittiwake was a big sunken submarine that was full of growth and creatures. I noticed some very dark Blue Tang swimming around while we were making our way through the ship. The distinctive blu coloring let me know that the fish were indeed Blue Tang. I was also greeted by a school of Sergeant Majors. Some were old and some were younger, I could tell the difference between them because of the amount of yellow coloring that was appearing on their bodies. The younger had less yellow while the older ones had lost more yellow coloring. The Sergeant Major and Blue Tang were the fish that stuck out the most to me on the Kittiwake dive today. On our second dive at Doc Paulson, the ship was covered in lots more growth because this ship was sunken in the 70’s while the Kittiwake was sunken around 2011. I managed to see some Horse eye Jacks on the second dive. The fish were swimming in a group of three but at first I thought it was aTarpon do to the long big body and the shiny, silver scales. But when I got closer and looked a little harder I saw the eyes and mouth and knew that it was a Horse eye Jack. The mouth is closed and is more rounded then a Tarpon and the eyes are bigger and the head is bigger and rounder. Another amazing creature I saw today towards the end of the dive was the Great Barracuda. This particular Barracuda was eating some Silversides close to the boat. At first I wondered what was eating the small fish but when it stopped moving I saw the long body and razor-sharp teeth and immediately knew that it was a Barracuda. Today’s dives were absolute amazing and I cannot wait for our final two dives tomorrow.
