Day 3 Cayman Island’s

0

Today was an extremely fun dive day consisting of 2 dives at 2 very unique dive sites; The two dive sites were Big Tunnels and Bonnie’s Arch. These dives were the deepest dives I have ever done and due to the clarity of the water I could still clearly see at 100 feet deep. We scuba dived in trench like formations with 50 foot coral walls towering above us. Some notable things I saw during these dives was a barracuda and a foot diameter crab. Some interesting facts about barracuda is that they consist of 20 different species that can range in size from 50 cm to 2 meters. Furthermore, they can swim up to 25 miles an hour which is extremely helpful for hunting. A tactic schools of fish utilize to escape barracuda is that they swim in a tornado formation to prevent the barracuda from focusing on one fish. Today we didn’t go to stingray city because it was too windy. However, we did watch an extremely interesting and eye opening documentary about the human effects on the ocean and how devastating it is to the ecosystem. I am looking forward to seeing turtles tomorrow.
