Marine Bio Day 10

0

Sadly today marked the last day of class at Jesuit after ten great days. Today we started off by discussing behavioral expectations while we are in the British Virgin Islands. We talked about how we are modeling Jesuit and what we do affects Jesuit as a whole. We then moved on to discuss the articles after Mr. Kirby and Dr. Gruninger were sure we understood what was required behavioral wise. Will and I presented our article on the invasion of lion fish to the class. Our article was about how lion fish have been spotted in North Carolina, Georgia and Long Island. Our article discussed that these lion fish are not native to this area and are reproducing anyways because of the favorable climate in these areas. It also talked about the advantage they have on their prey since they are new and their prey have not adapted to their predatory habits. After discussing the article we moved on to discuss different areas that each table was assigned to research and present in class. These topics included bony fish, cartilaginous fish, marine turtles, marine mammals, and marine plants. I have enjoyed these two weeks of class and have learned alot and I hope the next week in the British Virgin Islands is just as exciting.
