Day Two

After waking up around 6:00 we got a nice breakfast and then relaxed for a while until we left to the NELHA and got to learn about OTEC and agriculture. My first specific topic is OTEC and how it created one megawatt out of 136 megawatts of energy for Hawaii. Later we visited. Monk seal facility but sadly we never saw a monk seal at the facility but then attempted to see it at the shore but we were also left without seeing one. My second specific topic was the monk seal and how it was the most endangered species in Hawaii and how only 4-5 were on this island. We the ate lunch on our way to Pololu Valley during a forty min drive that felt like forever since like 20 dudes were in a van. Once we got to the valley we proceeded down and many of us slipped too many times. At the bottom we walked around, swung on a rope, treaded the beach, and messed with a bull for about an hour. Then we tried too hard to get up the mountain and apparently beat some record. After tiring ourselves out we got pineapples and smoothies. On our way home we stopped at some neat looking lava tubes or caves, I cut my hand but got it cleaned later. My last specific topic was when we learned about the different types of lava rock including aa and pahoehoe. After that we got home and ate some dinner and went for swim.
